I was twelve years old when I read the first Harry Potter book when it was released in 1997 and I was instantly hooked on the magical world J.K Rowling had created. I knew I desperately wanted to read all Harry Potter books in order and would impatiently wait for the next instalment.

I would definitely recommend reading the Harry Potter books in order. The story builds on previous events, and characters undergo significant development throughout the series. Reading the books in order allows readers to witness the personal growth, struggles, and triumphs of not only Harry but also his friends and foes.

This book was published under the title Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone in the United States. Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone was the original title in the United Kingdom.

Our journey begins with Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. Here, we meet young Harry Potter, who discovers his true heritage as a wizard on his 11th birthday. He receives his invitation to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and embarks on a journey filled with magical creatures, new friendships, and the mysteries surrounding the Philosopher’s Stone.

The film adaptation, released in 2001, was our first glimpse into the visual wonder of the Wizarding World.

Harry Potter Book 2: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (1998)

Determining the best Harry Potter book is subjective and can vary from person to person, as it often depends on individual preferences, favourite moments, and personal connections to the story. Each book in the series has its own unique qualities and strengths, however, my personal favourite was The Prisoner of Azkaban.
