The Women’s Prize for Fiction longlist 2024 has just been announced and as usual there’s some brilliant titles included.
The Women’s Prize for Fiction (previously known as the Orange Prize for Fiction) began in 1991 as an answer to the previously male dominated Booker Prize. The prize aims to recognise the fantastic literary creations written by women.
There’s been some brilliant previous winners, including my personal favourites Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver, The Book of Form and Emptiness by Ruth Ozeki and Hamnet by Maggie O’Farrell. One of my favourite books of all time, The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller was also a winner back in 2012.
Women’s Prize for Fiction Longlist 2024 will be whittled down to a shortlist of six books on Wednesday 24th April and the winner crowned on Thursday 13th June.
Here are the books longlisted this year.
