Just Another Missing Person Book Review
I was excited to dive into Just Another Missing Person, especially after loving Wrong Place Wrong Time. Gillian McAllister has a knack for creating intriguing premises with unique twists and this book definitely delivers on that front.
The story revolves around Detective Julia, who’s caught in an impossible situation—solve the case of a missing girl or protect her own family by framing someone else. It’s a gripping premise that immediately pulls you in and made me wonder what I would do in a similar situation.
Unfortunately, I found the pacing a bit slow at times. The multiple perspectives were handled smoothly but I just found that that the story dragged in parts. Maybe it’s because I’m not a huge fan of police procedurals, which might be why I didn’t connect with this one as much as I wanted to.
The twist was definitely unexpected and clever, but it just didn’t land for me. While I appreciate McAllister’s creativity, the twist felt a bit far-fetched and left me unsatisfied. It’s one of those moments where you can admire the craftsmanship, but still not fully enjoy the result.
Overall, Just Another Missing Person is a solid read but it didn’t quite live up to Wrong Place Wrong Time. It’s good, but not as memorable.
